Eleanor Farjeon [ইলীনো (র), ফারজন)

What worlds of wonder are our books! (কী এক বিস্ময়ের জগৎ আমাদের বই।) 

As one opens them and looks, (যখন কেউ তাদের খোলে ও দেখে,) 

New ideas and people rise (নতুন ধারণা ও মানুষের উদয় হয়) 

In our fancies and our eyes. (আমাদের কল্পনায় ও চোখে।)

The room we sit in melts away, (আমরা যে ঘরে বসি তা যায় মিলিয়ে,) 

And we find ourselves at play (আর খেলায় খুঁজে পাই নিজেদেরকে) 

With someone who, before the end, (কারো সাথে, শেষের আগে, যে) 

May become our chosen friend. (আমাদের পছন্দের বন্ধু হতে পারে।)

Or we sail along the page, (অথবা আমরা সেই পাতায় চলি ভেসে,) 

To some other land or age. (অন্য কোন দেশে বা যুগে।) 

Here's our body in the chair, (এখানে আমাদের দেহটা চেয়ারে,) 

But our mind is over there. (তবে মনটা পড়ে থাকে সেথায়।)

Each book is a magic box, (প্রতিটি বই একটি জাদুর বাক্স,) 

In between their outside covers, (বাইরের দুই মলাটের মাঝে,)

Which with a touch a child unlocks. (যা এক স্পর্শে খোলে কোন শিশু।)

Books hold all things for their lovers. (বই তার প্রেমিকদের তরে ধরে রাখে সবকিছু।)

When someone opens and looks at a book new ideas and people rise in his/her mind. (যখন কেউ একটি বই খোলে ও দেখে তখন তার মনের মধ্যে নতুন ধারণা ও মানুষের ভাবনা 'উদয় হয়।)
 
(c)     What melts away when we read a book? (যখন আমরা বই পড়ি তখন কী অদৃশ্য হয়ে যায়?)
Answer
The room we sit in melt away when we read a book. (যখন আমরা বই পড়ি তখন যে কক্ষে বসে পড়ি তা অদৃশ্য হয়ে যায়।)
(d)    What might the people in books become by the end? (বইয়ের মানুষগুলো শেষ পর্যন্ত কী হতে পারে?

The people in books might become our chosen friends by the end. (বইয়ের মানুষগুলো শেষ পর্যন্ত আমাদের নির্বাচিত বন্ধু হয়ে উঠতে পারে।)
