Globalization

 

Though globalization (বিশ্বায়ন) is a process of expanding trade and commerce across the world by creating a borderless market, it has far-reaching (সুদূরপ্রসারী) Impacts on  other spheres also. Now people of the world have to travel a lot, live in foreign countries for the purposes of business and commerce, Jobs, various types of training, etc. As a result, the world is increasingly getting Interconnected. So, people are increasingly being influenced by foreign cultures. Remarkably. Western cultures are dominating the cultures of different countries due to their economic and military power. Western countries are dominating the global market. Cultural identity is a complex and multifaceted concept, referring to an individual's sense of belonging to a particular culture of a society or country. It encompasses language, customs, social behaviour, beliefs, values, etc. But under the influence of foreign cultures, especially Western cultures, it is getting increasingly difficult to preserve local cultures or cultural identity because elements of foreign cultures are always getting assimilated and integrated into local cultures. In this regard, technology is playing a pivotal (গুরুত্বপূর্ণ) role. Through satellite TV channels and the Internet, people are getting acquainted with all sorts of different customs and behaviours and, thus are being influenced deeply with these. In fact, globalization and technology, especially the Internet-based social media and satellite channels, are gradually generating a global culture by influencing the local or native cultures.
